Archie Knox Hopes To Stay

Bolton Wanderers caretaker manager Archie Knox hopes that there will still be a role for him at the Reebok Stadium following the appointment of Gary Megson as the new Trotters manager on Thursday afternoon.

The 60-year old joined the Wanderers at the end of August as Coaching co-ordinator and has taken charge of the last two games against Arsenal and Sporting Braga.

Knox will relinquish his managerial responsibilities for Sunday's Premiership game against Aston Villa but the former Manchester United, Everton and Glasgow Rangers assistant hopes there is still a future for him at Bolton.

Speaking after the draw with Braga the veteran Scottish coach explained that he did not expect his role to change for the immediate future under Megson's stewardship.

"I will work away with Gary in a similar role as the one I had under Sammy. Whether that changes I do not know. Hopefully it won't. Obviously Gary has got to look at all the staff and players. Everyone has got to prove themselves.

"But I have been assured it will be the same staff and there will be no changes" added Knox
