Sam Allardyce was glad to see that his skipper Kevin Nolan ignored orders for once during Bolton's 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

Allardyce was overjoyed to see the 23-year old midfielder Nolan continue his fine run of form against Spurs and praised the quality of the eventual matchwinner which left England keeper Paul Robinson beaten all ends up.

The Bolton boss usually tells his players to refrain from shooting at distance but he is glad that Nolan ignored orders to send the Wanderers up to third in the Premiership.

"The players are not allowed to shoot from outside the area. That's because they miss most of the time. I am glad he ignored me on that one." said Allardyce

"The technique and the quality of the finish was there for everyone to see. I would like to have seen him put that second one in. The technique was almost as good as the first goal but it went past Paul Robinson and hit the post."
