According to rumour, Bobby Zamora is to put pen to paper on a new 4-year contract at the club. However, under the new EU-wide transfer scheme, this contract will only be protected from poaching for the first 3 years. However, even signing this oddly limited deal will help the club to convince its fan-base of future success. It will protect the club from losing its star player until more new talent is brought into the squad.

The retirement of Simon Morgan, and the loss of Lee Steele to Oxford has left Brighton without a pool of capable strike partners for Zamora. But the club seems set to sign Bradley Allen form Grimsby, and that will help the situation greatly.

Hinshelwood has stated that securing Zamor for the next few seasons is his main priority, followed by signing a striker and a defender urgently. The new SKY TV deal has provided the club with a little more money for players, and if the 2nd Division winners prize is anything like that in the 3rd Division, Hinshelwood should have at least a quarter of a million to play around with between now and August.
