Rory took after his older brother and signed for the Stags as a youngster in August 2006. It was soon clear that he was one for the future as early in the 2006/07 season he was sent straight out on loan to local side Ilkeston Town but returned prematurely in October 2006.

His first game for the Stags came in the loss against Grimsby in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. His first league game came against Torquay early on in 2007 which ended in a 5-0 victory to the Stags, unfortunately Rory did not get on the scoresheet, however things were looking up for the young striker.

Top-scorer Michael Boulding has admitted one of the main reasons he came back to Mansfield was because his brother had signed on for the club and they both played together up front many of times before Rory was sent on loan to Hucknall Town. Harrogate Railway in the FA Cup when the camera's were on the young striker he really shone. He had a fantastic game with his older brother and cemented his place in the first team for a good few months after.

Unfortunately post-february Rory hasn't had much chance in the first team but at 19 there is still plenty of time for the young attacking player to show his worth and could have; with the right attitude and determination, a bright future with the Stags.
