Newcastle v Fulham Preview

Hodgson: Determined
May 15 2009

This is no end of season pointless run in game. Both sides have much to fight for, both sides had a 3-1 victory last week and both sides want a win badly.

Newcastle's fight for survival has been well covered by the media in the lastfew weeks, a hell of alot more than Fulham's great escape last year. Well, we aren't as fashionable or as popular as the Magpies. Fulham, at the other end of the table (that sounds nice!) are fighting with three others for not only their highest ever Premier League finish, but a place in Europe, and not via winning the InterToto cup either.

                                                     Shearer: Opptimistic

Alan Shearer wants three points more than anything else in his professional life right now, and Roy hodgson is looking at a manager of the season award with what he's done with limited resources in the last year. On Newcastles side, they have just had a stormer of a game at home against 'Boro, coming from behind and winning 3-1. This broke a non winning streak going back 11 games when they won at West Bromwich Albion in the first week of February. They hope that this is the turning point, and another home fixture against a side with a less than stellar record away from home might just give them all 3 points.

Fulham on the other hand, demolished Aston Villa at home with the two 'back-up' strikers performing extremley well. Roy Hodgson now has Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora fit and available, which should be an interesting choice for Fulham fans. Many would like to see the same pairing of Nevland and Kamara start again, and I don't see why not. They both performed admirabley last weekend and deserve another go.

This should be a great game.- Come on you Whites!
