Ashbee has European dream

Skipper Ian Ashbee admits he has a European dream. He said: "I watched bits and bobs from Europe last week - mainly from the Chelsea game. Wouldn't it be great? Leading Hull out at Roma. "It would not be so much the icing on the cake as the hundreds and thousands on top of that. We know what we are trying to achieve, but if we keep winning football matches...

..I know there are going to be losses along the way but you never know."

Ashbee has captained Hull in all four divisions.

He said: "I remember we played Rochdale away when there were about 2,200 fans there on a wet Tuesday night.

"There had been a pile-up on the motorway and we got there ten minutes before kick-off.

"It was even silly things like we had to buy our own drinks to have on the coach. I have seen the other side."

He adds: "If you had asked me five years ago when I was leading the side out against Lincoln if we would be playing against Manchester United and Chelsea, I would have said no.

"So Europe is something I would never say no to."

Hull boss Phil Brown has instilled a confidence in his players that is being displayed on the pitch and the manager sees no reason why his side cannot get something from the next two games.

He said: "People say the top four are impregnable because of the money that has been spent. But having gone to the Emirates and got the three points, all it has done is given us hope.

"If we go about things right we might get something from the game.

"We have won four on the bounce and confidence levels are high so we are looking forward to the game rather than being frightened of it."
