Match Preview: Yeovil Town v. Southampton

After Saturday's lacklustre defeat at the hands of Exeter, Yeovil will be hoping to get back to winning ways against a some what under performing Southampton side.

The Saints have already swapped manager this season with Alan Pardew getting the sack after winning 4-0 at Bristol Rovers, to be replaced by former Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins.

Currently only one place and a single point separate the Glovers from Southampton, with the Saints failing to win throughout September and much of August until they recorded a win last Saturday- their first since Pardew left.

Fortunes have been similar for the Glovers, who after winning on the opening day of the season, have only had that winning feeling one more time.

Adding to that, the Green and Whites have conceded more goals than any other team in the league-17- and on average, throughout the last five matches Yeovil have conceded three goals per game.

In terms of injuries, Yeovil will need to sweat it out on the fitness of duo Craig Alcock and JP Kalala, who both missed Saturday's match. Meanwhile John Sullivan returned to training yesterday, but is unlikely to feature yet with on-loan Stephen Henderson set to deputise once more.

For the Saints, their only doubt is Jose Fonte, who missed their match against Sheffield Wednesday. Meanwhile, Adam Lallana made a cameo performance last Saturday as he makes his comeback from a four week injury, and he could find himself heavily involved in the game versus Yeovil. 

The strike partnership of Rickie Lambert and Lee Barnard hasn't been firing on all cylinders so far this season, with just six goals scored all season thus far. However, with Yeovil conceding goals like there is no tomorrow, Southampton's attacking players will be looking to get on the score sheet once more.

Last season despite it being a 'Little versus Large' match up in terms of club size, Yeovil lost at home by the single goal, and poor refereeing decisions meant Yeovil's chances were slimmed slightly. With this in mind, the Glovers will not be fearful of the Saints, who much like the Green and Whites, are yet to find their best form so far this season.
