This week sees Glover Lover profile youngster Luke Ayling, who since arriving on a permanent deal in the summer has excelled at Huish Park.
The start to his footballing career couldn't have got off to a better start, being an integral part of the Arsenal youth system from the age of just ten, signing his first professional contract when he was just 17 years old.
Ayling was part of the youth side which won the double in 2008-09, and was tipped for big things at the Emirates.
His ability to play in numerous positions made him an attractive prospect, with the nineteen year old able to play in defence or midfield.
Luke first joined the Glovers on-loan in March 2010, making his debut against Southend United on the 2nd of April. Although, his first league start didn't come until the last game of the season away at Brighton & Hove Albion in May of the same year.
At the end of the season the defender returned to Arsenal to find out that his contract was not being extended, meaning Ayling soon ventured back down to Somerset to join the Green and Whites on a permanent basis.
This season has been the making of Ayling, who has made the right-back position his own after initially covering for Craig Alcock who was absent due to injury. Although Alcock continues to be injured, it is unlikely he would be able to dislodge the ex-Arsenal youngster who has flourished down the right hand side.
Approaching his 30th appearance for Yeovil, Ayling will be hoping he can soon score his first professional goal, to add to his otherwise excellent game.pqs: qs:
