Match Preview: Yeovil Town v. Oldham Athletic
By Alex O'Loughlin
April 16 2011
Yeovil Town take on Oldham Athletic this afternoon for their second game at Huish Park in a week, in a bid to secure three points which should guarantee them League One safety for another season.
After a disappointing 3-1 away loss to Hartlepool United last weekend the Glovers responded excellently with a vital 2-1 win over freefalling Notts County in midweek, and a further victory today could see them breathe a sigh of relief and look forward to another year in nPower League One.
Both sides today are coming into the game with differing sets of form. Whilst the Latics have only won one of their last thirteen games the Glovers have won five in their last thirteen. In fact, if the league started on January 8th, Yeovil would be pushing for the play-offs.
In terms of injuries Terry Skiverton has a full squad to pick from with no new injuries or suspensions, and the quartet of Andy Welsh, Luke Ayling, Oli Johnson and Paul Wotton are likely to continue in the starting line-up after playing well on Tuesday night.
Paul Dickov has a few more injury concerns with Filipe Morais, Jason Lowe and Reuben Hazell all doubts with injuries.
Speaking with BBC Radio Somerset Terry Skiverton spoke of the importance of today's game:
"We're looking to get ourselves as high up the league as possible and make sure we get up towards the late 50s and early 60s [points].
"They're a tough side to beat and have a good young manager in Paul Dickov, and are a club steeped in tradition and history.
"Wouldn't it be a nice thing after Saturday to be above Sheffield Wednesday and it would be a honour for a club like us to be competing with them."
If you are not travelling to Huish Park today you can listen to the game on BBC Radio Somerset 99.5FM with a match report following later on Glover Lover.pqs: qs:
