It has been reported this morning that Motherwell are interested in a number of players to add the paper thin squad we kicked off the season with. But the question is will the players in question be the answers to the problems we have ahead of the Aberdeen game?
Scott Burns in the Express this morning has linked the club with Rangers Andy Webster on a six month loan and former St, Mirren man John Sutton.
Much was written after the weekend defeat to Hearts about the poor defending that led to the defeat. McGhee obviously believes that a six month loan for Webster will help sort out these problems.
Webster is still recovering from a knee injury after and a troublesome spell at Wigan after he had left Hearts.
Sutton would be the kind of battering ram centre forward we haven't had for some time, maybe even as far back as Nick Cusack. Sutton has fallen out of favour at Wycombe Wanderers and could be available for free.
McGhee is also trying to sign up Souleymane Mamam who played as a trialist in pre-season. McGhee is keen on the Togo International and is now having to sort out visa issues. He looked good in pre-season and has a decent pedigree, hopefully something can be sorted out.
Finally there has been a bit of a saga going on with Livingston's Dave McKay. We are reported to have offered the West Lothian club £50000 that they have rejected.
This prompted the Lions skipper to hand in a transfer request as he wants to get back to the SPL and have the chance to play in Europe, wonder where this will end up.
Hopefully these moves won't fall through as so many have during this transfer window.
