Are we back on form?

Well saw off Hearts in a game bereft of any real efforts at goal, but Chris Porter’s effort was enough to see us putting pressure back on the teams challenging for the top six. Do two clean sheets back to back mean we are back on form?? Only the coming weeks will tell!
Last night’s game was a strange affair with only five efforts at goal in the whole game. With Motherwell mustering two (both in the first 16 minutes!!) and Hearts three efforts, with only one of them reaching Graeme Smith. The good news was that we managed to keep a clean sheet for the second game in a row. This would appear to be down to the return of Steven Craigan at the back, but equally I think it is also the introduction of Maros Klimpl to the midfield. The Slovakian Klimpl has allowed Hughes to express himself and also act as a bit of insurance in front of the defence. I am not the greatest fan of Clarkson this season but his return in the last couple of weeks seems to have helped the side as well. Equally I have never been impressed by the addition of Jim O’Brien to the side but he seems to be giving us some width and pace that was missing previously, we’ll see how this continues….. The second half saw us a bit shot shy with the players taking too many touches in the final third, although after the game Mark McGhee was pleased with the decision making at the edge of the box….. This week we are heading north to Inverurie but there will be little change to the side as Mark McGhee is looking to finish the tie as early as possible!!
