McGhee after win at Tannadice

Manager Mark McGhee was not surprised that his team dismantled Dundee Utd at Tannadice this afternoon as he told the post match press conference.

McGhee felt the result keeps us in touch with the European race as he said: "I said we had to beat Dundee United to give ourselves any hope of catching them and we have done that. "We believe we can catch them. It's a long-shot. Dundee United are obviously big favourites to get that third spot but we are after them." McGhee was always confident of upsetting the odds travelling to Tannadice this week as he watched the players in training in the last week or so since the Hearts victory, "I've been telling people all week that we have looked as good in the last couple of weeks as we have done since I've been at the club. "We came here today on the back of a couple of good results hoping that's what it was going to be like again."I hoped and thought it was going to be possible. To win 4-0 is pretty convincing but it wasn't too much of a surprise to me, in terms of the performance if not the result." The Well boss was also pleased to see Chris Porter sweep aside speculation linking him with Huddersfield and Hearts to produce another impressive performance, "It's not affected him in any way other than positive. He was terrific again today and got a goal as well which I thought he deserved. But I thought it was a team performance as much as anything else."
