Today's Lanarkshire Derby with Hamilton was called off yesterday, depsite the pitch being playable - ahould something change in Scottish football?

Today sees another game cancelled in the SPL, with our game with Hamilton falling foul of the feezing conditions, thanks to burst pipes in the East and South stands.

This is the sixth game in the SPL that has been postponed in the last week despite the pithc being playable making a bit of a mockery of the SPL's stipulation that club's must have adequate pitch protection to play in the League.

This has brought up the usual discussions about summer football or a winter break.

Personally I have now become a bit of a convert to summer football and changing the season altogether. This would see us play from March to October. I know there will still be some poor weather but we will not get the deep cold we are suffering at the moment.

It will also make sure people are not sitting shivering in stands that in many cases are not fit purpose.

It would appear though there is no real appetite in authority to make it happen with Neil Doncaster of the SPL lusting the problems this week in his blog wiht out really looking at the benefits....
