Jamie Murphy's late first half goal sealed a victory for Motherwell in Iceland tonight and drew him level with Stevie Kirk as Motherwell's all time European top scorer.

Motherwell turned in an efficient performance to see off their Icelandic opponents tonight to progress to the Third Qualifying round of the Europa League and face  trip to Norway to take on Aalesunds next Thursday.

In the first half Motherwell rode their luck before Jamie Murphy effectively sealed the tie just before half time when he kept his cool to beat the keeper after latching on to a long ball from Stephen Craigan.

The tie was never a classic but Motherwell did enough to progress and with more fitness and sharpness being built up all the time we can only hope we can see off the next challenge and draw a real giant in the following round.

There is no doubt that Craig Brown's game plan worked out tonight as his side frustrated the home side limiting them to only a handful of chances before taking one of their own.

Hopefully there might even be new faces in before the next round which would help raise the level of optimism around Fir Park way.
