A debut goal for Nick Blackman secured all three points in thoroughly professional performance at Rugby Park this afternoon.
Craig Brown made four changes ahead of Thursday's game with Odense with Esteban Casagolda, Blackman and Jonathan Page all making SPL starting debuts. There was also a first start since January for Marc Fitzpatrick.
Killie put Well under pressure from the start but the tricky Da Silva could only head over before shooting wildly wide. Motherwell's first chance game in 13 minutes when Blackman fired a spectacular volley just over.
The home side were winning numerous free kicks with their constant falling over, which eventuall led to Dayton being shown a yellow for simulation.
The goal came on 37 minutes when Humprhey's cross was flicked on by Casagold for Blackman to fire home at the far post.
There was a bit of a rammy in the tunnel at half time, with Randolph and Fowler seeing yellow for their involvement.
Motherwell continued to create to create chances in the second half with Blackman and Fitzpatrick seeing weak efforts held by Bell. The keeper had to look sharper to beat out a 25 yard shot from Tom Hateley.
Then in the dying stage Randolph pulled off a stunning save to deny a close range Pascali header.
This early in the season this was a vital three points ahead of the game with Odense and then at home to Celtic to next week.
