Change in share ownership to secure club's future??

Motherwell have appointed a Vice Chairman with Motherwell man Derek Weir taking on the role with John Boyle selling an undisclosed number of his shares to Weir

I don't normally get to excited about announcements like this BUT this seems to be a strengthening of Boyle's position, particularly as he still holds the controlling share interest.

Boyle now has two of his own people in senior positions at the club, Weir as Vice Chairman and Leeann Dempster as Chief Executive.

Dempter's appointment has been described as an "outstading success", although I am not sure where this comes from. I constantly hear stories of sponsor, employees and local businesses who have been turned off by the presence of Ms Dempster.

The introduction of Chapman's Pies, a hoop rather than a band and Well fans back in the Cooper are inexpensive and shallow gestures.

I hope Weir's appointment, as a Motherwell fan, will see the club more in touch with it's fans again and truly return the club to the heart of the community.

Talk is cheap but delivery is more difficult, and hopefully this latest move won't be filed under the Well mantra of "good idea poorly executed."
