The latest name linked with the vacant Manager’s job is former Blackburn assistant Manager Neil McDonald.

It would appear Sunderland scout Ricky Sbragia was the first choice for the Motherwell board but he has turned the job down in the last couple of days as the club struggle to match his personal demands.

This has led the club to come up with a plan B, and it would appear there were a couple of people interviewed before yesterday’s defeat to Rangers.

It has emerged in the press this morning that McDonald is the new favourite to take up the job before we take on Celtic at Celtic Park on Wedenesday.

McDonald seems to tick the boxes that the board are looking for. He has had experience as a manager (at Carlisle) but more importantly has contacts at all levels in England. This is where we have managed to pick up players like Randolph, Humprhey and Jennings and is key for the future of the club.

Hopefully this can be resolved before Wednesday and brings a reaction from the players after the shambles of yesterday.
