The grass isn’t always greener….
McCall

This is a phrase manager Stuart McCall has used in recent days to try to keep his out of contract players at Fir Park – is it true?
We have lost a number of players and managers in recent years and I think many find that they make more money but their career appears to stall. Let’s look at a few examples from recent years;
Ross McCormack – moved to Cardiff and was initially the next big thing there, but is now on loan to Leeds and sits on the bench regularly. He was in the Scotland squad when he left us, and is now no longer on the radar of Craig Levein.
Jim O’Brien – moved to Barnsley and is regularly on the bench, and often an unused sub. Reading some of his updates on Twitter you do believe he regrets moving.
Mark Reynolds – latest to move, and is now not even a part of the Sheffield Wednesday squad (a change of manager hasn’t helped) and not playing on a regular basis.
David Clarkson – As with McCormack he was in the Scotland squad when he left for Bristol City, and although he has been playing relatively regularly this season he too is off the International radar.
Mark McGhee – is now publicly saying he should not have taken the Aberdeen job which was seen as a bigger job than ours!
Maybe Messrs Sutton, Jennings etc should bear this in mind, although again if they move I will hold no grudge as it is their right to go on and take the money.
