Today's Daily Mirror is reporting that West Ham manager Alan Curbishley is eyeing up a move for Newcastle United defender Stephen Carr, who becomes a free agent in the summer. Carr who is currently out of the Newcastle side through injury has only played 10 games in all competitions this season.
The 31 year old is unlikely to be available untill the end of March after picking up a hamstring injury in February. It is his 6th hamstring injury since being at Newcastle and his 15th spell out through injury since he joined from Tottenham in 2004.
The Republic of Ireland international's performance at Newcastle has been inconsistent and injury stricken. He was linked with a move to both Wigan and Birmingham by The Mirror in January 08 when under the management of Sam Allardyce.
