Striker Andy Carroll has finally signed for Liverpool in a five and half year deal worth £35million. The 22 year old who is currently carrying a thigh injury will be hoping to make his debut at the weekend against Chelsea, if he doesn't get a game against Stoke City in midweek.
Carroll will wear the number 9 shirt for the club.

Free when he's 27? If it's like Robbie Keane we'll have him back in the Summer!
This splashing the cash from Liverpool does make me wonder though...what would have happened had they given Hodgson the same backing?

Just want to know why we didn't play hardball like the thieving Scousers an refuse the sale untill we had a replacement ! Or was it big fat ash plan all along as a convenient excuse so he could pocket the money.
I'm really disappointed in the club right now after all the s**t we've had the last few years this season was lookin so promising but turns out there just as clueless as I ever feared what's the point anymore

Welcome aboard, Tom-good to have you!
I think the club is being run by madmen at this point, simple as.
And, sad as it is to admit it, Carroll is just another greedy mercenary @#$%&.

Thanks tunyc have been on here for a while just never really post just so wound up with how things have unfolded never been a fan of Ashley but really started to believe he might actually have a plan and some kind of ambition when he turned down 30m it's not so much the sale of carroll that upsets me even though he felt like one of us and all the claims of wanting to stay for life ! It's the stupidity of it I mean having no one lined up an he considers himself a business man and then the desperation of trying to sign zogs back it's pure madness sorry to rant but this one really hurt and feel for me it's the last straw I'll always love and support this club but as long as he's in control I will not be going to another match or buying another shirt I know this will not make any difference but It just sticks in my throat the thought of him getting rich off of my hard earned money

All we can say is, Carroll will never be a Shearer. That breed of footballer has died.
Now days its all about the money.
OK, Carroll, go get your money.
Enjoy your step down. We have a better team than Liverpool. These players need to stop signing just for a history of a club and come to terms with the modern game.
Hey Carroll, Torres just left! Why?
How many years has Gerrard got left in him?
The rest of the team is garbage.
Good luck on your 80k a week.
You'll never be a legend, you blew it.

Yep think it is defo a downward spiral with kenny in charge if his spell up here is anything to go by with the dire boring football and playing for 1-0 wins but losing or drawing the majority but just wish our club showed the same sense in refusing to sanction the transfer untill we had a replacement it was just so senseless especially with him on such a long term contract but no we get the embarassment of them desperately clutching at straws once the horse had bolted and now the squad is further depleted ! I understand 35m is too much to turn down but if we struggle for goals now and worse case scenario were relegated what price could you put on his potential goals or that of his replacement had they done things properly ? Yet another rollercoaster season as a toon fan

So reports today suggest carroll was forced out ! Not beyond belief really but like I say doesn't matter who wanted it 35m was good business if they had a proven goalscorer lined up to fill the void but circus in town running this club have once again royally turned us fans over
Let's just hope ranger or best can take a massive step up or I fear the worst

We don't have a better team than Liverpool. Not any more.
And beyond the starting XI (which is weak at this point) our squad is not very impressive at all.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I was shocked yesterday when it all unfolded, and not sure if I am happy or totally p@ssed off with it. If the majority goes back into the team and we stay up then I think we got top money for a lad who was still really unproven, but I do think the lad will achieve a lot as I think he has the quality. But the other way to look it as he was wanting top money on all accounts which ain't going to happen and if we can get a price which is over the top then maybe it is good business, especially when you take into account the off the field troubles he has.
The biggest mistake for me is not bringing anybody in, why didn't we try to do a loan deal fro Ngog, as part of the deal, and before anybody fires me down, I know he aint the best but with the cr@p we are left with it was a option we could have used. Could this be another Shay Given, loosing a player in Jan to go down, bloody hope not, but now I am a lot more worried than I was before about going down, and the reason I am not to sure if it was a good deal
Regarding Ashley nothing surprises me know, this last couple of months has summed up what the toon is about, getting rid of CH when he was doing well and then cashing in on a young player.

When the dbag rat supporter in the office came over to gloat today, I told him we should have asked for 30M and Kuyt. You get the impression our guys didn't try to negotiate at all.

Why sign anyone in a way over inflated market with money that could help the entire squad in the summer. Also would you have been happy with a rushed through signing within the last few hours of the transfer window ? Obviously they weren't planning on needing a striker as they thought carroll was staying.
Ashley aint no angel by a long shot but i think to blame him for carrolls sale is stuipid. Carroll is the one who wanted away here, no one forced him to sign his nice new lucrative liverpool contract. If he was so loyal why didnt he refuse to leave ? surely if he persisted on staying he wouldnt have been put in the reserves.
He just got a new contract not so long ago and they said they were willing to discuss in the summer, which is more than fair imo. Why be held to ransom by someone who just got a new deal and apparently loved the club so much. Mst ppl would gladly play for nothing for the team they loved.
The blame here is 100% on Carroll and his agent for me.
If Newcastle really wanted to sell him why not cash in on spurs 23mil offer or liverpool's 1st or 2nd offers. Surely that would of been enough to keep a greedy git like ashley happy? Why bother sending him to a specalist on his injury ? If the club knew he was going would they pay for him to see a specalist?
Carroll was willing to give up 3.5mil by handing in a transfer request to join liverpool, just shows he must not of been that keen to stay with us.
Any muppet can send a text to the sunderland echo claiming to be carroll saying they wanted to stay. Media just trying to twist things as usual and paint our club in controversy as per.
Carroll wanted to move, face facts. Carroll is to blame.

totally agree andrew
although i think its fair of Carroll to pursue more wages and seek silverware just would have respected him more if he was honest n said sorry am going to get more wedge elsewhere n play european football
on that note i thought with a £35m fee was expecting him to get 100k+ contract
think he spat his dummy out cos he didnt get his contract renegotiated on the spot
and think Ashley let him go cos they werent going to be held over a barrel
He signed a contract in oct for 5yrs and they were willing to renegotiate in summer? think thats fair dealand its a good message that no player is bigger than the club

Hey, move on and all-but this ranges into outright rationalization. Obviously Carroll isn't blameless in this but to suggest that he forced the move is absurd.

I for one am not arguing over the actual sale of Carroll wether he was forced out or wanted out is besides the point what annoyed me was they sanctioned the deal with no replacement 35m is good money and I doubt we would get that in the summer for him had he stayed but they should have gone the same route as Liverpool and refused to let him sign untill we had someone ! As soon as clubs new we were 35m richer of course there going to quote stupid figures when we enquire about players and if we couldn't get anyone tell him he will have to wait untill end of season for a transfer
