Shola Sticking With England - Sven & Platt Comment

Following a fresh approach from Nigeria for him to play for them, Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has confirmed that he is focused on making Sven's England squad and will not be looking to swich National sides.

Shola said:

"I have told Nigeria I've made my decision and am going to stick to it. Hopefully next season I can play enough for Newcastle United to impress him (Eriksson)."

Sven Goran Eriksson said:

"Shola Ameobi and Jermain Defoe have a real chance of getting into our squad. They are both fine young players and great prospects."

David Platt added:

"If Shola recognises what he's got, all hell could break loose."
