Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness has warned Welsh striker Craig Bellamy. With Dean Saunders at the club, Bellamy has been told to be careful what he says when - or else he can expect to be on the losing end of a verbal clash.
Graeme Souness said:
"Dean's nickname is Sid after Sid Slaughter, so Craig Bellamy might find out if it comes to a verbal clash, he is on a loser.
"I don't know if it is a Welsh trait or not, but around the place, Dean Saunders is as good as you get with the banter.
"Alan Murray is someone I trust because we have been pals for 30 years and he has been with me at Benfica, Southampton and Blackburn Rovers.
"I believe it's important you have people around you who you can trust fully and he also has a knowledge of the game. He has all his coaching badges and is someone whose opinion I value and listen to."
On Carver, Souness added:
"John Carver has been offered a position at the club and I hope he is going to take it. I've only heard good things about him and you can't have too many good people at the club."
