While at Blackburn Rovers, Graeme Souness was forced to sell Damien Duff to Chelsea after the £17m transfer release clause in his contract was met by Roman Abramovich. Now he is at Newcastle, Souness would love Duff to rejoin him in the January transfer market.
Souness also admitted he would love to entice his former star Damien Duff to Newcastle from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
He was forced to sell Duff to Chelsea when he was Blackburn boss after Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich agreed to pay a £17m transfer release clause in his contract.
Souness said:
"It is true I'm an admirer of Damien's, unfortunately for me and anyone else interested it seems Chelsea's manager Jose Mourinho has now realised what a top player he is.
"We will just have to wait and see how that one works out for him. I would love him here. He's the type of player who would excite our supporters."
