Villa Interest For Bowyer

Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer, who became surplus requirements after the signing of Scott Parker, is attracting interest from a Midlands club again, this time it's Aston Villa.

Lee Bowyer is allowed to leave Newcastle and David O'Leary is ready to offer him a way out of the North East.

Bowyer already played under O'Leary during the glory days of Leeds United. And it seems that O'Leary is still an admirer.

A move to city rivals Birmingham City seemed almost done last week but Bowyer rejected to join City because of a internet petition of some fans who didn't wanted Bowyer at their club.

Former clubs West Ham United and Charlton Athletic are also monitoring Bowyer's situation closely but it looks like Villa are leading the race.

Villa boss David O'Leary has been handed a £10m transfer kitty and it now seems that he will spend £2m of it on recruiting Bowyer.

Birmingham didn't gave up their hopes either of landing the London born midfielder, Steve Bruce is still trying to persuade Bowyer to rethink his decision of snubbing Birmingham.
