Newcastle United have today revealed that the club HAVE bid for Inter Milan midfilder, Emre.

There was speculation that the Emre deal was dead in the water, after over a week of no progress.

But this latest release from club will give fans hope that Emre will come to St. James’ Park and not Fenerbahce.

Newcastle Chairman Freddy Shepherd said:

"We have been talking to the player with Inter's permission and we have now tabled an offer.

"We are now waiting for Inter to come back to us with their response."

Emre is also drawing interest from other Premiership clubs including Everton, but it looks likely that Newcastle or Fenerbahce will be the destination of the Turkish midfielder.

If successful in joining Newcastle, Emre will be the first Turkish player to represent the club.
