As we reported on July 10th, Newcastle United have signed 17-year-old Tim Krul from Dutch relegation battlers ADO Den Haag. The young goalkeeper is being touted as one of the brightest young goalkeepers in Holland.
ADO Den Haag failed to sign Krul as professional after his youth contract run out and Newcastle jumped at the chance to sign him. Because his youngster contract run out the club only need to pay a schooling compensation - a fee of around €200.000.
Speaking to nufc.co.uk, he said: "I'm very happy, it's a fantastic move for me to sign for such a big club.
"To come and play in England has always been a dream. When I was a young boy I always used to say to my father that I wanted to come and play in England because the Premiership is very popular in Holland.
"I have been looking around St. James' Park and it is a very beautiful stadium. There are so many great players at Newcastle and I am looking forward to meeting them all and starting training."
