Town manager Jim Magilton says loan signing Jon Macken is the sort of player he has been trying to bring in to Portman Road.

Jim: “Jon's the sort of player I have been looking to bring in.

 

“He can hold the ball up front and bring other players into the game and has proved that he can score goals as well.

 

“I have watched his career since he first burst onto the scene at Preston, where he scored a lot of goals.

 

“Manchester City paid £5m for him and I know Kevin Keegan rated him very highly when he was manager there.

 

“The last year or so probably hasn't worked out for him as well as he would have liked and sometimes when a player gets in that situation, a change of scenery can do a power of good.

 

“He's coming here determined to do well for this football club and knows the way I want to play football and I'm sure he will suit us and we will suit him.”
