Stead Explains Exit

Town striker Jon Stead has explained why he choose to join Coventry City on-loan for the rest of the season.

Stead: "Part of me was surprised about being let go, but then after some of the comments from the manager in previous games maybe I wasn't so surprised.

"But I don't want to go into that.

"It came about very quickly. The Ipswich manager pulled me in and said he'd agreed to let me go on loan if I wanted to go.

"I obviously had a long discussion with him and he said he had brought two strikers in and they were not there to sit on the bench.

"This made me think it was time to go and look elsewhere to get some games and finish off the season on a high.

"I trained on Sunday at Ipswich and never spoke to the manager.

"I actually made my decision on Sunday night when I rang my agent who spoke to the chief executive at Ipswich and the Coventry chairman."
