England and Ipswich Town legend Sir Bobby Robson has been paying tribute to former Ipswich Town assistant manager Dale Roberts ahead of his testimonial game next week.

England and Ipswich Town legend Sir Bobby Robson has been paying tribute to former Ipswich Town assistant manager Dale Roberts ahead of his testimonial game next week.

Sir Bobby’s current side, Newcastle united will be travelling down to Suffolk next week ahead of the game which is on Wednesday night at Portman Road.

Sir Bobby has said that: “Dale was a terrific competitor as a player. He gave excellent service to Ipswich and Hull and did himself great credit as a coach and assistant manager also.

“It is with great pleasure I can bring the Newcastle squad down for this game. Dale Roberts was a good servant to the football industry and a thoroughly nice man.”.

The travelling Newcastle squad is likely to include former Ipswich youngsters: Darren Ambrose, Kieron Dyer and Titus Bramble.
