Royle’s Reaction (Gills)
Ipswich Town manager, Joe Royle is delighted with Towns 2-1 win over Gillingham, but disappointed that town didn’t score more than 2.
Royle has said that: “I was pleased with the second-half performance and we
should have scored two or three goals, I was angry at half-time and so were the
players. We gave away another horror goal to make it difficult for us but we
turned it around and the most important thing is that we got the three
points.
“Kevin Horlock did a great job for us in the middle of the park
and passed the ball well and he also provided us with some defensive cover which
is something we are not used to from our midfield players.
“But looking
at the bench, it's important that we try and bring some new additions into the
squad soon rather than later.
“Jason did well and it was nice to have a
player at the back who organised the defence, something else we have been
missing and Dean's strike for the goal was fantastic.
“It was a difficult
skill and he meant to put the ball where he did. Sometimes when a player scores
a goal like that, I wonder if it was deliberate but with that goal, I know he
did.”.
