Joe Royle has his 1001st game as manager tomorrow as Ipswich Town travel to Highfield Road to take on Peter Reid’s Coventry City side.
Royle will be with out Fabian Wilnis who serves the second game of his three game suspension, Kelvin Davis may also miss out with a back injury but he will be ok for Burnley in two weeks time.
Speaking ahead of the game Ipswich manager Joe Royle has said: “There is no way that Coventry are a bad side, despite their recent run, and we are expecting nothing less than a tough game.
“Peter and I get on really well and whatever happens in the game I'll have a glass of wine with him afterwards.
“We go back a long way - to when I was managing Oldham and he was at Manchester City.”.
Peter Reid’s side haven’t won in the last five games and may have to try and end that run tomorrow with out over defender Louis Carey who is being troubled by a back problem but Stephen Hughes has recovered from a bruised rib and may play some part.
Ahead of the match Reid has said: “Joe Royle is a big pal of mine and his
teams always play great football.
“They always look like scoring goals
with Shefki Kuqi and Darren Bent up front, but I think it will be won and lost
in the middle of the park.
“They've got Jim Magilton, who has been around
for a long time and can dictate a game, and Ian Westlake is one of those young
players they always seem to bring through. But we've got Sherwood, Hughes and
Doyle in there hopefully getting plenty of possession.”.
If Town win tomorrow they will move up to 2nd behind Wigan on goal difference only, and Coventry could move into the top half.
