Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle believes that Sundays defeat at Sunderland “was a hiccup - nothing more than that.”

The 2-0 defeat ended Towns 11 game unbeaten run and a 32 games scoring run both at once but will not be over reacting

Royle: “We were poor yesterday (Sunday) and it was our worst performance in a long, long time.

“But we have had a fantastic start to the season and we remain second, just a point off the leaders. We mustn't over-react to this defeat. We may be down but we are far from out.”

Royle has also ruled out a loan signing coming in during the next week or so to replace Town’s doubtful duo of Dean Bowditch and Tommy Miller, adding: “There hasn't been anyone available to bring in and, as I keep saying, I won't bring players in to sit on the bench.

“Tony Dinning came in earlier in the season and he did OK up to a point, but he wasn't going to get in ahead of any of our midfield players.

“The situation hasn't changed as far as I am concerned. We are short of numbers but it is not an emergency and there is nothing imminent as far as loan signings are concerned.

“Tommy is looking as if he will be fit to face Brighton. The time will obviously help him and he is definitely in with a shout.”
