Ipswich Town defender Gerard Nash will go under the knife for the third time in his short career to repair damaged cartilage.

The 18-year-old defender has already suffered two cruciate ligament breaks in the past two years is still recovering from the second operation which was almost a year ago, Nash will have surgery to repair some damaged cartilage and will be out for 6 weeks.

Town physio Dave Williams: “Gerard will be having keyhole surgery on his knee to tidy up the cartilage, it means he will be out for six weeks and won't return to full training until February.

“The problem has been bothering him a little but we were hoping to get around it without the operation but it has to be the way forward for Gerard now.

“The injury is not connected in any way to the knee ligaments problems he he's had in the past though.”
