Cambridge United manager Steve Thompson has played down reports linking Ipswich Town midfielder Antonio Murray with a loan to the U’s.

Speculation about the possibility of Murray making the trip up the A14 to Cambridge when Town recalled Lewis Price from his loan spell at the Abbey Stadium.

But Steve Thompson has been quick to dismiss the rumours, saying: “Willie Donachie at Ipswich is a very good friend of mine and we've had a brief conversation about Lewis Price, but we haven't spoken about anything else.

“It was brief because I've had a million phone calls and messages to ring here, there and everywhere and you can't do anything with games flying in left, right and centre.

“I've had two games in three days to prepare for, I've had to watch the Yeovil game, meet the players and speak to the press and people like that, and really I just want to get down to winning football matches.

“I understand it's all part of the game but I haven't had any contact with Ipswich about loaning a midfield player. I've spoken to one or two managers about players coming in, but not that one.”
