Ipswich Towns Youth team have progressed to the Fifth round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Stoke City’s youngsters 2-1 last night.

Ipswich Towns Youth team have progressed to the Fifth round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Stoke City’s youngsters 2-1 last night.

Two goals from Liam Craig where enough to see off the young potters who had dumped Manchester United out in the last round.

Craig’s first came inside ten minutes turning his marker no where to be seen allowing Craig to hit his scuffed shot over the line to make it 1-0.

Town held the lead until into injury time when Stoke pulled the goal back and forced the game into extra time Adam Vass putting the ball into the net.

Town regained the lead 6 minutes into the first half of extra time after being awarded a penalty after Stoke’s John Quigley handled the ball, Liam Craig stepped up take the spot kick and converted.

Town held on for the win and have set up a fifth round home tie against last years beaten finalists Aston Villa or Port Vale (Date and KO TBC).

Stoke City U18’s: Sanna, Swift, Smith, Quigley, Dickinson, Hughes (Musgrove 50), Shotton (Wilson 81), Vass (Francis 70), Thomas, Paterson, Hazley. Subs: Garrett, Page, Graves.

Ipswich Town U18‘s: Supple, Moore, Krause, Casement, Collins, Beveridge, Garvan, Lordan (Sheringham 78), Clarke, Craig, Knights (Trotter). Subs: Haverson, Ainsley, Haynes.
