Pabs: I’ll Take A Wage Cut

Ipswich Town striker Pablo Couñago says he will take a wage cut in order to stay at Town next season.

The 25-year-old is out off contract next month and as Town try to cut the wage bill Couñago looks almost certain to be leaving Town, saving the club £12,000 a week. But the former Spain under 21 international says he would take a pay cut to extend his stay at Portman road.

 

Pablo: “That contract is almost over and I wouldn't worry if my wages went down. But it is not all about money.

 

“I would not want to stay if the manager was not going to play me. I would need to feel a part of the club.

 

“That means I need to feel they want me here, especially the manager. I have desire for the club but I don't know if they feel the same about me.

 

“The supporters of this club have been wonderful to me and also the other players, but I need to be playing. That is the most important thing.

 

“I will have to have a chat with the manager and see what he wants from me. If he wants to make some changes and wants me to leave, I will go. It will be the end.”
