De Vos Injury Blow

August 8 2005
Ipswich Town defender Jason De Vos has been ruled out for at least a month after breaking several ribs in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Cardiff City.
The 31-year-old defender put in a splendid performance against the Bluebirds on Saturday and will be sorely missed by Town who are already short in defence with only 3 defenders with proper first team experience at the club, how ever Sito Castro’s signing should be completed today making it four experienced first team defenders.
The total number of defenders including Castro is 9, but four of them are currently injured or recovering from injury, Gerard Nash is still recovering from knee surgery, Scott Barron is nearly recovered from injury, Aidan Collins has a leg injury and then there is De Vos, which leaves five defenders but only four with first team experience and one (Chris Casement) who is not quite ready for the first team.
How ever Joe Royle is believed to be in constant contact with Premiership clubs about the availability of their defenders.
