Supple On Debut

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Shane Supple has been talking about his somewhat unexpected debut for Town today.

The 18-year-old made his first appearance for Town’s first team 35 minutes into today’s match with Leicester City following a injury to Lewis Price.

Supple: “It all happened so quick, me going on that I didn't really have time for any nerves to start.

“Sitting in the dressing-room at half-time, it was a bit different though. They kicked in then but the lads helped me settle down okay and I was pleased with the way the game went.

“I made a couple of saves early on and that helped my confidence and the lads in front of me defended really well.

“They have to take the credit for the point and the gaffer said after the match, 'why can't we defend like that every game?'”

While Shane was pleased to make a first team appearance he feels sorry for fellow goalkeeper Lewis Price, adding: “It's frustrating for Lewis, especially with a big chance of him playing for Wales in the week.

“We all just hope that it's not too serious.”
