Former Ipswich Town striker Darren Bent has been called up to full England squad in place of Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson.

The 21-year-old striker left Town in the summer and joined Charlton for £2.5million up front with the possibility of another £1million for Town dependant on Charlton and England appearances.

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson: “I got a late phone call last night, saying he [Johnson] has a hamstring injury so now we have Darren Bent from the U21s squad.
