McDean Eyeing Return

Ipswich Town striker Dean McDonald is hoping to return to the first team picture at Portman Road following his loan spell at Hartlepool.

The 19-year-old made five appearances during his time at Victoria Park scoring one goal, his first league ever in the ‘Pools 2-1 win over Bournemouth and they wanted to extend his loan for another month but Town manager Joe Royle would not allow it.

 

Dean: “If I hadn't done okay then perhaps the gaffer would have said that I wouldn't have been playing well enough to come under consideration at Ipswich and let me stay another month at Hartlepool, but he told me that he wanted back here as cover and you never know what can happen.

 

“The manager, players and fans at Hartlepool were great to me and I was happy with the way things went there and really enjoyed it.

 

“I certainly feel that going out on loan helped me and now I'm back at Ipswich, I know I have got to work hard in training and hopefully catch the gaffer's eye and earn another chance to show what I can do in the first-team here.”
