Naylor Blasts Warnock

Ipswich Town defender Richard Naylor has blasted Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock for his gestures towards the North Stand following Town’s game against the Blades.

Naylor: “He was out of order, it only needed one of our supporters to take offence and there could have been a situation out there.

 

“I told the manager to get inside the dressing room area as quickly as possible.

 

“It is wrong for managers to make for opposing fans at the end of games - and I felt it was right to step in and do my bit to stop him.

 

“It was not me who incited the situation. I was aware that his actions could have led to problems.”

 

Warnock sees it another way, he said: “Richard spat his dummy out and jumped the gun. He made the situation what it was.

 

“I always seem to get intimidated here.

 

“The Ipswich fans were calling me all sorts of names and I joined in the banter when they asked me what the score was.

 

“I signalled that it was 1-0 and pointed to my watch to signify there was still time left.

 

“At the final whistle I went towards the home supporters and raised a finger in each hand to signify 1-1. The game needs some humour at times, it is an ingredient that it is missing.

 

“Then Richard ran 40 yards to join in - and it all took off.”
