Preview: Town – Burnley

STB brings you team news, manager previews, betting odds and the officials ahead of Towns game against Burnley tomorrow (KO 3:00pm).

Town will be with out Danny Haynes, Gavin Williams, Adam Proudlock, Sam Parkin and Nicky Forster meaning Jaime Peters has returned to the squad for the first time since the start of November.  

 

Town manager Joe Royle: “For the first time in a long time, thanks to our recent run, we will probably be regarded as favourites to win.

 

“But anyone thinking we can just turn up and cruise all over Burnley needs a reality check. They are one of the most stubborn sides around and will be very hard to beat.

 

“I think our Carrow Road result and performance last Sunday had been coming for a few weeks.

 

“We were playing well not so long ago without getting the results but it has all come together nicely in our last few games.

 

“But with a 10-point gap to close between us and the play-offs between now and the end of April it is vital that we keep it going and extend our run of wins.”

 

Town squad: Scott Barron, Darren Currie, Jason De Vos, Owen Garvan, Jimmy Juan, Alan Lee, Jim Magilton, Dean McDonald, Richard Naylor, Jaime Peters, Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Luis Sito, Shane Supple, Ian Westlake, Fabian Wilnis.

 

Burnley will be out skipper Frank Sinclair who is suspended, goalkeeper Danny Coyne is out long term and Wayne Thomas is a minor doubt but could be in the Clarets squad.

 

Burnley manager Steve Cotterill: “They've done very well considering, they've had some young players who have come in and they have a very productive youth scheme at Ipswich and they just seem to keep bringing them through, so that's all credit to them.

 

“They're a big club and that turnover of players is fantastic for them.

 

“They've been up there and been in the Premiership over the last few seasons, but they've had a transitional period since they've been out of the Premiership, therefore, it's been a topsy-turvy season for them maybe with all the younger players.

 

“It was a tough game there last year and Ipswich are a good side, whether or not they have young players in, you only have to look at three of their back four, Naylor, De Vos and Wilnis, who would get in most Championship teams, so we know what to expect.”
