Victory vital if Pools are to revive their season

Victory is vital for Hartlepool at Hereford at the weekend, and it's just as important that on-loan Kevin Kyle starts to justify the cash the club has splashed on taking hinm to the Vic. Kyle didn't do badly in his first month on loan, but since the deal was extnded to the end of the year he's hardly torn up any trees and needs to do better both for his own benefit, and for Pools.

With Joel Porter out with a thigh injury and Richie Jones suspended, Pools' already small squad is beginning to look threadbare, though it is hoped that Ben Clark and Jamie McCunnie will be available again.
They missed last weekend's bore draw with Yeovil with a virus, but both could only manage a half of the midweek reserves game against Sheffield United.
It all means the pressure is on Kyle, and to a lesser extent on Michael Mackay (right) if he partners the Scot in attack. Mackay did well in scoring twice in the FA Cup second round win at Fleetwood, but didn't do much againt Yeovil.
He's been at Pools long enough now to be showing signs of making it at League level, but he has only done so in flashes.
Kyle, on the other hand, is a much more experienced player and while some aspects of his game look good, some don't and he's not going to win games - or friends - by using a lot of energy complaining about the service given to him by team-mates.
Hereford aren't doing well this season, but on current form neither are Pools.
A win is required, a draw would do - a defeat could be a disaster.
