Boro notched up a deserved third consecutive victory, and clean sheet, by defeating Tamworth 2-0 at Broadhall Way with goals from Jon Brady and captain and top scorer, Jason Goodliffe.
There was just one change from the victory at Hereford two days earlier, Dino Maamria made way for the young Jo Flack. Boro got a corner in the first couple of minutes, after Jo Flack done very well to put pressure on Matt Redmile. It was wasted though and Anthony Elding also had a good chance, but it was saved by the Tamworth goalkeeper, Ryan Price. There was just four minutes into the match when the first card was shown, Richie Hanlon was harshly booked for a tackle, from which he seemed to win the ball. Elding and Mark Rogers had good headed chances, and Colkin had a free-kick for Tamworth which ended up into the arms of Boro keeper Andy Woodman. It was a pretty dull first half.
Half-time: Stevenage Borough 0-0 Tamworth
Boro were creating more chances in the second half. Hanlon shot wide, then released Jo Flack, but he was beaten to it by the keeper. After an hour, Jon Brady came on for Mark Rogers, and it wasn't all tactical, as Mark Rogers was later spotted on crutches. Jon Brady had a cross blocked by Matt Redmile, and from the resulting corner, Goodliffe headed wide. Boro were then awarded a free-kick as Matt Redmile took down Jo Flack, the resulting free-kick was struck by Justin Gregory, but it was blocked. Gregory then played the ball back in, and Jon Brady struck home, much to the delight of himself and the fans. Ten minutes later, Boro attacked and Barry Laker headed in to the danger area, and Jason Goodliffe headed home from it. The last ten minutes could've seen Boro extend the lead. Elding, Jon Nurse and George Boyd had chances but couldn't quite finish them off.
