Black Cats defender Nyron Nosworthy will make his return for Sunderland tomorrow in a reserve match against Liverpool. Nosworthy has been out of action since tearing his hamstring in the game against Aston Villa in January, a 2-1 defeat at the Sunderland stadium of Light.

All being well, Nosworthy will be back in first-team contention for Manchester United's visit to the Stadium of Light on Saturday week.

Sunderland's reserves go into the game four points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier Reserve League North table, with two games in hand on second-placed Manchester United.

The Black Cats Reserves have five games to play this season and have an excellent chance of winning two pieces of silverware: the league title and the totesport casino league cup in which they have progressed to the final.

The Sunderland Academy Under 18's won their league yesterday lunchtime with a 2-1 win over Barnsely at the Academy of Light.
