Reserves challenge for title

The Black Cats reserves will be crowned Barclays Premier Reserve League North champions if they beat Everton in Hetton tonight (7pm).

Sunderland, with four league games to play, are five points ahead of Newcastle with two games in hand on their rivals, and seven ahead of third-placed Manchester United who have played a game more.

Newcastle, United and Manchester City are the only teams capable of catching Neil Bailey's side.

Sunderland's reserves, captained by Jack Colback, have lost just twice all season and are going for a league and cup double.

The Black Cats beat Accrington Stanley last week to set up a totesportcasino.com League Cup final meeting with Derby County later this month.
