We must play without fear when Phil Brown's Hull City visit the Sunderland Stadium of Light on Saturday, says boss Ricky Sbragia. The Black Cats have just six games left, and are one place and two points above the Premier League's bottom three.
But the Black Cats go into the Hull game on the back of a morale-boosting performance against World, European and League champions Manchester United.
"Everything we spoke about they put into practice against United," said Sbragia. "Now we need to carry it forward into the Hull game.
"We need the same energy, commitment and desire. We have six games to go and we need six big performances."
Sbragia is hoping and praying that his front two of Kenwyne Jones and Djibril Cisse come good in the last part of the season and start to find the net once more.
The partnership has produced 20 goals for the Black Cats this season - but only one in the last seven games which have seen Sunderland go winless.
"I was pleased with the front two against United," he said. "They worked hard and Kenwyne got his rewards with a goal. It would be nice for Djib to get one this weekend.
"They have played with a lot of confidence in training this week so hopefully that will translate into the game."
