News reports have suggested that Darren Bent has not travelled with Tottenham to China today but is on his way to wearside to finalise a deal taking him to the Sunderland Stadium of Light.
Bent, who has been a target of the Black Cats for a good few transfer windows, is valued at £15millionby wheeler dealer Harry Redknapp, but with Tottenham in need of a cash injection to complete the signing of Peter Crouch it is thought that Redknapp will have to reduce his asking price.
On another note, Sunderland were well deserved winners in their second match at the Amsterdam Tournament. The Black Cats beat Atletico Madrid by 2 goals to nil with Kieran Richardson scoring a brace, witha a goal in each half.
The first was from the penalty spot (yes, Sunderland WERE awarded a penalty) after some great play by Anton Ferdinand to break up an attack bring the ball forward and set us on our way.
Ferdinand played the Ball to Jones, who controlled the ball and turned two defenders with a great move before sending Steed Malbranque through on goalMalbranque was tripped inside the box and the ref awarded a penalty which Richardson calmly placed into the bottom corner, sending the keeper the wrong way.
The second goal almost seemed toop easy after some good lpay by Henderson, Carlos Edwards squared the ball to Richardson on the edge of the box and he slotted it into the bottom corner.
The future's looking bright for Sunderland, with Lorik Cana, Paulo Da Silva and Frazier Campbell still to make their first appearance in a Sunderland Shirt.
A gem of the tournament has to be youngster Jordan Henderson who put in two great performances and didn't look out of place among some of the worlds best.
