It has been reported that the 31 year old Australian, Lucas Neill, is currently in talks with Sunderland. Neill would be able on a free transfer, but will come with a price - high wages - as he is known to be a 'football mercenary'.
Neill, turned down a move to Liverpool in favour of a move to Upton Park (where he would receive double the wages on offer at Liverpool).
However Neill is a lead on the field and would provide some much needed experience in the Black Cats defence.
Neill can play as a centre back and right back so would provide cover, even if not in the starting eleven.
A good 'buy' if it comes off.

Chimbonda rings a bell, in it for the money thats it. Bring in someone wants to be loved by club and the fans.
