Liverpool XI Visit Prenton Park in Pre-Season

Another friendly is announced by Rovers as rumours of a match against Liverpool have today been confirmed with the game taking place at Prenton Park in early August in what is becoming a regular pre-season fixture for Tranmere…..

Just as things had gone quiet on the pre-season front and the final list of friendly matches seemed to have been completed, Tranmere Rovers have today announced that as is now becoming the norm in pre-season, Liverpool will visit Prenton Park for a pre-season game once again.

The match against a Liverpool XI (and therefore most likely to be Liverpool's youngsters or at best a few fringe first team players) will take place on Tuesday 3rd August at Prenton park with a 7.00pm kick off.

Whether Rovers will play a full team themselves in this game remains unclear with the N:Power League One season due to kick off just four days later but a mixture of youth and first team players seems the most likely outcome.

The addition of the Liverpool game today means that the Pre-Season fixture list now looks like this......

Friday July 9th: Holyhead Hotspurs (A) - Kick-Off TBC

Tuesday July 13th: Cammell Laird (A) - 7.00pm

Tuesday July 13th: Heswall (A) - 7.00pm

Saturday July 17th: Colwyn Bay (A) - 3.00pm

Saturday July 17th: Marine (A) - 3.00pm

Tuesday July 20th: Vauxhall Motors (A) - 7.30pm

Wednesday July 21st: Nottingham Forest (H) - 7.30pm

Saturday July 24th: Mansfield Town (A) - 3.00pm

Friday July 30th: Altrincham FC (A) - 7.45pm

Saturday July 31st: Shrewsbury Town (A) - 3.00pm

Tuesday August 3rd: Liverpool XI (H) - 7.00pm

Games in BLUE are likely to be a Youth (Non First Team) Team fixture

Exciting times, though guess the 12000 deluded RS ""fans"" will turn up.

Just been looking through various internet sites. I've noticed we're not playing Morecambe (because they're opening their new stadium against some bigger sides, such as Man City and Bolton) or Southaport this year, which is a shame, as they are two really good away trips
